There is much to do and see in Chicago. It was game day, the home opener for the Bears, and the whole area around Soldier Field comes alive.....at 6:30 AM. The tailgate parties started that early. All morning long people were walking by with 12 packs of Bud Lite, bags of ice and coolers.
Those with vehicles set up BBQ's, tables, gazebos and games. Drinking was going on everywhere. It was a good party. The game was sold out and scalpers were not to be found. It was probably better for us anyway to watch it on TV as tickets which were high in the grandstand started at $100; the end zone seats cost even more.
We made it to the Adler Planetarium after the game. The shows were good but I was a bit disappointed in the exhibits. So far, the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History were the best.
As for the pizza, it was a fun experience. Linda and the others loved the Chicago style deep dish pizza. I thought that it tasted OK but I was less impressed with the taste over the next 12 hours. We went with another couple to one of the original creators of this style pizza, Uno's but found the line up to be about half a block long to get in. Their second restaurant, Due, was only a block away and did not appear to have a line up. We checked with the maitre'd and discovered that there was a 35 minute wait for a table but that we could order a pizza because it would take 45 minutes to cook. So we ordered a large, grabbed some beers from the bar and went out to the street and sat on the curb until our name was called. Sure enough we had a table in about half an hour, ordered more drinks and the pizza arrived about 10 minutes later. The crust, especially around the edges, is very thick and the middle is loaded with cheese, tomato sauce, sliced sausage, mushrooms and green peppers. You have to eat with a knife and fork.
In the morning we are moving to another marina near downtown and the Navy Pier.

We're on our way...can see the Chicago skyline already but have about 3.5 hours ahead of us yet. Taking some big ones today on the stern quarter (portside). Ice the beers down ;-)
