Old Bahama Bay Marina, West End, Grand Bahama Island
(Tuesday March 1 – Dist: 65.3 mi; Avg Speed: 18.4 mph; TTT: 3:45 hr)
Do I have to really say anything??
The trip across was not really the best but the end result was really worth it. We hemmed and hawed for 2 days about going today; the window was fairly short and the wind and waves were near our limits for comfort but we decided this morning at 6 AM to make a run for it. The next window will probably be a week away. The water changes colors as you get to the Gulf Stream and then are even brighter and more colorful when you get to the shallower parts. We did encounter a fair swell of about 4-5 feet for about an hour of the trip but all in all not too bad a crossing.
I’ll try to send plenty of pictures but much of it will depend on the weather and the availability of internet access. A brief storm swung through here a little earlier but it looks like it will clear up in a day or two.
That’s all for now.
