Beaufort (pronounced bee-you-fort) South Carolina is another of those quaint little southern towns with beautiful homes, neat architecture and friendly folks. The downtown docks are part of a beautiful park (unfortunately we have no photos) with patio after patio looking onto the park and out to the water.
The docks in this area seem to be a series of long docks requiring parallel parking, much like Fernandina. When we arrived the wind was up, of course and we were asked to go on the inside and dock against the wind and into the current. The sail boat which went in right before us got turned perpendicular to the dock before a bunch of guys were able to rescue them. They were fortunate that there were no boats on the next dock, yet. Fortunately, we came in without a problem and then had the luxury of watching others come in.
Another great meal (Emiley's) with our friends from the Last Resort.
We will have to stop here again and do justice to this town but for now here are a few photos which we took on our brief walk about. Remember that you can click on a photo to enlarge it and then just use the browser back button to return.
