Linda and I decided to go to Coeyman's Landing because every write up that I have ever seen about this place was 5 star positive... and I now agree. We basically came here to get our laundry done (5 loads did it), get some fuel (275 gal for a total of $1,154) and to take a short relaxing break before tackling the Erie Canal and the 30 locks that we must traverse before getting onto Lake Ontario. Objectives achieved.
Bonus was the quality of Yanni's Too Casual Dining Restaurant. Their calamari was excellent, tho I am not sure that it was the best that I have ever had...but close. It is busy and we casually dined twice in our first 7 hours here. Don't tsk-tsk us, I would not allow Linda to prepare dinner after doing the laundry... after all.
The trip up should have been a slow relaxing cruise but just before Catskills we saw a storm come over the hills. It looked so ominous that we seriously considered putting into the town to seek refuge. Instead I opened Q up and "fed the twins" as our friends from Georgia would often say. It looked close for a few minutes but I put the engines at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and pulled away.
For my friends in Windsor, WOT means "put the pedal to the metal". We did out run the storm and it was nice by the time we reached Coeyman's Landing only to discover that the entrance is quite narrow and close to shore, You can just barely see the small buoys marking the channel. Everything worked out fine; we had excellent directions and help from the marina.
As I said in a previous post the tide is still 4 feet and we are 115 miles from the ocean.
