This is the reason that we so desperately wanted to leave Myrtle Beach. Half of the "A" Team (ie. Abacos Team) was getting together at Rho-Jo's home. Rhonda and Joey prepared a low country boil... and it was superb, even unbelievable. Potatoes, sausage, seafood galore and corn on the cob all cooked in a big pot over a propane stove on their deck. It was a great evening and a wonderful get together with our friends from Rho-Jo, Bade Boomer and Lady Royale.
Fortunately we were able to gather again the next night for a BBQ. Joey and Rhonda have a beautiful home on the west side of Pleasure Island. Their boats are docked right by their deck and they are within a stone's throw of the beach on the Atlantic Ocean. Thank you much for the hospitality and friendship.
We stayed 2 nights at the Federal Point Yacht Club, a very nice marina. It was only a few hundred yards from Joey and Rhonda's place so everything worked out perfectly. A great visit.
With all of the excitement of meeting up again with our friends, I neglected to mention the trip to Wilmington. Well if you remember we did not leave until 1 PM and had 60 miles to go to reach the party. It was not an easy task however, since it was built up along the way necessitating slow speed through the "no Wake" zones. We also had to transit the "Rocks" canal which is a very narrow cut of about 2 miles. Before entering we did the securite, securite, securite warning on the radio. This informed any south bound vessels to wait for us to clear the canal. There just was no room for tow boats. It was a little nerve wracking but Linda did manage to snap some photos while I white knuckled through the rocks.
