Myrtle Beach was not quite what I expected then again I never got to golf here like most every other golfer in the world. As we approached the area there were a few places with nice homes and some smaller communities along the shore but generally not what I expected of a tourist destination. We only saw one golf course from the water and that was rather unique. The parking lot was on one side of the ICW and the golf course was across the way on an island. One had to ride a ski lift where the clubs were attached to the back of the gondola.
Barefoot Landing Marina was right along the waterway with no protection from passing boats. There were no facilities either. If one needed to use a restroom then you had to go to the public washrooms for the adjacent strip mall. The strip mall was really the only reason to stay at this marina. Of course Linda and Debby found things to buy but to me we were just sitting in the parking lot of a shopping mall. We did find that the food and happy hour prices at the seafood restaurant were good.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, this was the beginning of my frustrations with UPS. I will not get into again other than to say that we got a late start the next morning.
